What is a generic domain name?
Generic domain names are domains that are keyword specific that have not been diluted down by the addition of extra letters of words. A bit like the words in the dictionary. They define a category, product or service. They are not brand or made up words. An example would be the domain name Paving.com. This is the apex domain, the best domain you could buy if you are somehow connected to the paving business. Why? Because every other domain name would have to add a letter or a word to other domains in the paving category, i.e. apaving.com. There can only be one category defining domain that just contains the word “paving”. To be honest, there are others but not in .com (which is considered king of all suffixes, the bit the domain ends with)
